One of Waseda University's goals is to turn the campus itself into a museum, and as a concrete example of this goal, in addition to the existing The Tsubouchi Memorial Theatre Museum and Aizu Museum, a third museum, Waseda University History Museum, opened on the first floor of Building 1 on the Waseda Campus on March 20, 2018.
The History Museum presents materials and information related to the history of our university (past, present, and future) in a variety of ways, rather than simply displaying a general overview, so that visitors can make new discoveries according to their individual interests. We will continually update the exhibits using various digital media, and combine themed exhibits and special exhibits, in order to create a facility that is intellectually stimulating and will make visitors want to visit again and again.
The museum will be made up of three permanent exhibition areas ("Eternal Ideals," "Progressive Spirit," and "Soaring Roof Tiles"), a special exhibition room, and a theater room where you can watch video programs. There will also be a Waseda goods shop and a cafe, and the museum aims to be a place where you can drop in and have fun anytime, rather than just looking at the exhibits.
