早稲田大学キャンパスへの立入禁止のお知らせと行動に関する注意事項

新型コロナウイルス感染症の急激な感染拡大が続いています。早稲田大学は、これ以上の感染の拡大を防ぐために、４月8日（水）～21日（火）の期間、北九州キャンパスを除くすべてのキャンパスの門を閉め、学生・生徒・校友（卒業生）・来訪者の入校を禁止することにしました。教育・研究の継続は、大学が果たすべき重大な使命ですが、それよりも皆さんの命が優先されることは、言を俟たないからです。

これ以上の感染拡大を防ぐためには、日本に住む一人ひとりが感染拡大防止の努力を継続する以外に方法はありません。すでに報道されているとおり、この感染症は潜伏期間が長く、また、感染者の中には無症状の方もいます。たとえ自覚症状がなくとも、自身の行動により周囲に感染を拡大させる恐れがあることを改めて心に刻み、皆さん一人ひとりが感染予防に取り組んでください。

具体的な取組みとしては、以下に挙げるとおりです。友人と外出して食事や飲み会をしたり、ライブハウス等の密室空間で娯楽に興じたりすることはもってのほかです。早稲田大学の学生・生徒としての自覚を強く持って行動するようお願いします。

不要不急の外出の自粛
マスク着用と手洗いの徹底
クラスター（患者集団）発生防止のための行動（室内に長時間いる際には換気を徹底する、手の届く距離で多くの人の密集を避ける、近距離での会話や大声での発声を控える、など）
Social Distancingを念頭に入れた行動（人と距離を置いて座る、接触を避ける、など）

キャンパス閉鎖期間は学内のさまざまなサービスの利用が停止となります。詳細は各箇所のWebサイト等を確認してください。また、今後の感染状況によっては、外出禁止を要請する緊急事態宣言が発令される可能性もあります。その場合、社会全体の多くの機能が一時停止するなどの事態も発生します。本学だけでなく、下記に掲げた各省庁や専門機関などから、正確な情報の収集に努めてください。

この未曽有の危機を学生・生徒、教職員が一丸となって、乗り越えていきましょう。

Dear students,

Waseda University will be closed from April 8 – 21, 2020

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread rapidly throughout Japan. In order to prevent the potential transmission of the virus, Waseda University has decided to close all of its campus, except Kitakyushu Campus(the Graduate School of Information Production System), from Wednesday, April 8 to Tuesday, April 21, 2020. No students, alumni, visitors, and members of the general public will be allowed to enter any of the Waseda campuses during this closure period. Though ensuring the continuity of education and research activities is an important mission of the university, we have come to this decision because your safety, health, and well-being is our utmost priority.

To slow the COVID-19 outbreak, each and every one of us must continue to make the effort. COVID-19 is known to have a long incubation period, and some of those infected with COVID-19 are silent carriers, meaning, they show no symptoms. Therefore, remember that despite not having any subjective symptoms, there is a possibility that you may have contracted the virus, and the actions you decide to take could spread COVID-19. We ask that you take preventative measures to protect yourself and those around you.

Specific preventative measures have been listed below for your reference. Also, we strongly discourage you from taking part in non-essential activities, such as eating out with friends or participating in recreational activities in crowded, enclosed rooms/space (For example, live concerts) with poor ventilation. Please be sensible with your actions as a student at Waseda University.

Refrain from participating in non-essential activities and stay at home as much as possible
Wear a mask and wash your hands thoroughly and frequently
Prevent one cluster of patients (a group of patients) from creating another (For example: ventilate enclosed spaces as much as possible if you will be there for a while, avoid gathering in crowded groups where you are at an arm’s distance of each other, and refrain from holding conversations or vocalizing in close proximity, etc.)
Practice social distancing (For example: Seat yourself apart from each other, take Avoid close contact with one another, etc.)

Many services at the university will be suspended during this closure period. For details, please check the website of respective offices/departments offering the service. Also, depending on the situation, it may be possible that the Japanese Government will declare a state of emergency. If this occurs, you will be strongly expected to stay at home, and many services could be temporarily suspended. Please refer to the websites below to check for updated information from the respective ministries and institutions.
