– In Waseda University, students are supposed to pay school expenses for the first semester in 1st grade at the time of enrollment and pay that for the second and subsequent semesters in each semester generally via automatic debit transfer. The transfer date depends on cases, so please refer to this flowchart.
*The above-mentioned flowchart is based on regular cases. It depends on conditions such as scholarship receipt status, status of payment of last semester’s school expenses, and leave of absence/withdrawal application approval status, so please note this point.
*The notification for Privately-Financed International Students will be sent separately to their Waseda email address around mid-April and around mid-September, so please follow the instruction on it.
– In School/ Graduate School of Fundamental/Creative/Advanced Science and Engineering, when we cannot confirm the payment of school expenses as of the end of July (for Spring Semester) or as of the end of January (for Fall Semester), students will receive a notification about the deferred payment around middle of August (for Spring Semester) or middle of February (for Fall Semester). Please take a necessary procedure by following the instruction on the notification by the deadline.
*Please note that you will receive a notification about the deferred payment, even if you have completed the payment, around beginning of August (for Spring Semester) or beginning of February (for Fall Semester), because of the above-mentioned schedule.
Regular students enrolled at undergraduate and graduate schools with a “College Student” visa can apply for scholarships for international students. There are no scholarships or financial support available for non-degree students. Foreign nationals with the resident statuses of “permanent resident”, “long-term resident”, “spouse or child of Japanese national”, or “spouse or child of permanent resident” can apply for scholarships in the same manner as Japanese students. In that case, please refer to the “CHALLENGE” (Scholarship Information Guide for Japanese Students) as well as the scholarship information website for Japanese students.
There are 3 types of scholarships for international students by application procedure:
The office selects most suitable candidates and recommends them to the organization offering a scholarship.
Apply directly to the scholarship foundation.
*These scholarships target regular privately financed international students.
Consequently, recipients of the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho), students supported by overseas governments, and those who receive scholarships from scholarship organizations toward their tuition, as well as non-degree research students are not eligible to apply.
