・Abstract:

In this presentation, I will reflect on my academic career, discussing my education and my subsequent research and teaching. My focus will be on the nature of the study of literature, the enormous changes in approaches to this study around the time I attended university, my thoughts on those changes, and my own subsequent approach to carrying out research in English, Japanese and Comparative Literature.
