  • Title: Sentiment analysis for interdisciplinary projects
  • Day and Time: March 2 ,2023    4:30pm-
  • Abstract:
The first part of this talk will tend towards the autobiographical—offering a brief overview of my academic education and development before joining Waseda University in 1992, and a few subsequent thoughts relating to my involvement in the founding of SILS and GSICCS. The second part, with a rather more scholarly focus, will outline my ongoing plans for studies on nineteenth-century print media. Here I intend to focus in particular on my research into the life and work of the largely forgotten Scottish journalist E.S. Dallas (1827-79), who long served as an anonymous cultural critic for The Times and other London newspapers, but also authored a couple of original monographs on the functions of Criticism.
