On Monday, November 24, 2025, the School of International Liberal Studies (SILS) welcomed a group of students and alumni from Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Massachusetts to the Waseda Campus, in cooperation with an event organized by EdFuture, led by our alumnus Masaki Nakamura (Class of 2018).

As part of the one-week initiative “Japanese Education Tour 2025,” which includes visits to educational institutions, universities, and cultural sites in Tokyo and Osaka, the group visited SILS to deepen their understanding of Japanese society and education. The program also aimed to foster global awareness and intercultural understanding by providing opportunities for meaningful exchange between American students interested in Japanese culture and students of our School.

The day’s activities included a campus tour, an introduction to SILS by faculty members, a discussion on educational systems in Japan and the United States, and various opportunities for interaction with our students.

The visit offered a valuable opportunity for participants to experience different cultures and learn about educational practices across institutions, resulting in a highly meaningful and enriching time for all involved.

SILS continues to provide an environment where students from around the world can gather and grow through mutual learning and exchange.
