Profile

Nobuhiko Hibara is Associate Professor of Finance, WASEDA Business School, WASEDA University, Tokyo. Previously, he was Associate Professor of Finance at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan and Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He also worked with the World Bank and Bank of Tokyo. His areas of interest are in financial intermediation, banking, venture financing, and corporate finance. Research topics include corporate venture capital, internal capital markets in large corporations, effects of venture capital involvement in the IPO process, and the creation of venture capital industry. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Columbia University, and his B.A. at the University of Tokyo. He was named Inamori Fellow, Inamori Foundation (2008-2009) and awarded Sumitomo Corporation of America Doctoral Fellowship (1998-2002) and President’s Fellow, Columbia University (1997-1998).
