In March 2019, the Graduate School of Business and Finance, Waseda University (Waseda Business School: WBS) has been granted an EQUIS accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). This makes WBS one of the only two EQUIS-accredited schools in Japan.
EQUIS is an institutional accreditation system for business and management schools. It is managed by EFMD, which is the internationally acknowledged accreditation body based in Brussels, Belgium.
EFMD specifies many criteria for the accreditation, and an institution generally needs to work for years to meet them by improving a wide range of its systems. Also, over the course of it, the institution prepares a Self-Assessment Report that contains faculty’s scholarly achievements and institutional general statistics, among many others.
The EQUIS accreditation process also includes on-site rigor assessments by a peer review team appointed by EFMD, in more than 90 aspects, such as the quality and assurance of educational programs and advanced research activities, as well as the EQUIS’s three core pillars of internationalization, ERS, and corporate connection.
There are 180 business schools in 42 countries that are EQUIS accredited schools, and it is an honor for WBS to be on the list which proves that we have the world’s best standard education and research.
