ロシア政府による侵攻でウクライナでは戦渦が広がり、国際社会に混乱と分断と、同時に世界各国で連帯の波が広がっています。早稲田大学は、人権の侵害に強く抗議をし、武力によらない対話による一日も早い平和的な解決を強く望みます。また早稲田大学は特定の人種や出身地域、国籍等に基づくヘイトスピーチといった行動に対して強く反対します。ウクライナから、もしくはロシアからの留学生であるかを問わず、早稲田大学で学ぶ者は、皆が熟議による平和的解決と戦闘の終結を望んでいると、信じています。
早稲田大学は、影響を受けている学生のみならず、国籍・出身地域等を問わず、すべての学生と教職員が、自律的かつ自由に学び研究し、その成果を内外に発信し続けることができる環境を今後も維持します。さらに、戦禍を被った人々が、一日も早く平和で安全な生活を送れますように国際社会に学術活動を通じて貢献してまいります。

Waseda University’s Position concerning the Crisis in Ukraine
The growing devastation from the Russian government’s military aggression in Ukraine has been met with widespread confusion and division in the international community, while simultaneously prompting people across the world to come together in a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Waseda University condemns all violations of human rights and holds firmly to the desire for a peaceful and expeditious resolution to the conflict, one that is not achieved with violence but through dialogue. We at Waseda University also strongly denounce any action such as hate speech that would seek to target members of a particular race, country or region of origin, or nationality. I believe that everyone who has come to study at Waseda University, regardless of where they are from, be that Ukraine, Russia, or another part of the world, hopes for a carefully deliberated and peaceful resolution to this crisis and an end to hostilities.
At Waseda University, we will maintain an academic and research environment where not only those who have been affected by these circumstances but each and every one of our students, faculty, and staff, irrespective of where they were born or their nationality, can continue to freely and independently engage in their studies and research with simultaneous outreach activities to the international community at large. Moreover, Waseda University will strive to contribute to the international community through academic activities that will support the victims of this conflict to be able to live in peace and security as soon as possible.
