On July 1st, 2023, an open symposium was held in English for Waseda teachers and students organized around the SILS APM program: Area Studies and Plurilingual-Multicultural education (Chinese, French, Korean, Spanish).
Following the publication of the special issue of Waseda Global Forum (WGF) 19 about ““International education in Japanese universities: plurilingualism beyond English”, Dr MELLET (French studies), Dr DE DIEGO PERREZ DE LA TORRE (Spanish studies), Dr ZUO (Chinese studies), Dr BAE (Korean studies) and Dr SPERO (Global studies) shared their experiences and thoughts about CLIL education, foreign language education, university internationalization and globalization, with Opening words from Dean INABA and Prof. DETEY, and Closing words from Prof. MATO.
Many colleagues and students from SILS and GSICCS participated in the symposium and the discussion was enriching and constructive, stressing the importance of plurilingual-multicultural education as an essential component of international higher education.
