There are two reasons to choose the QTEM.
Firstly, the QTEM allows participants to study at two universities in different countries. I thought this opportunity would bring challenging, but fruitful experience, and it indeed turned out to be true. Secondly, the flexibility of the QTEM about the timing of exchange was also fascinating. In my case, I went to Switzerland in the second semester and did job hunting in the third semester. In addition, I started the second exchange in Australia in the fourth semester. At that time, I planned to start working after the graduation of master, and thus, the flexibility is important to achieve the exchanges and job hunting at the same time.
Why UNIL and Monash University?
The University of Lausanne (UNIL) is the university where Leon Walras, who is famous for the professor of the general equilibrium theory. Therefore, I hoped to study at a university with such proud traditions. As for Monash University, I would like to visit the place that was completely new to me to broaden my perspective. In addition, a lot of classes regarding Econometrics and multivariate analysis were offered at Monash University, which was beneficial to improve my Quantitative skill.
Message for potential candidates
I have an impression that the QTEM program is quite challenging. Studying for GMAT can be quite tough. And also, there will be a lot of things to do such as applying for the visa, accommodation, and etc. However, Waseda offers the class to prepare for GMAT, and the school office supports participants dedicatedly, so it is not impossible to complete the QTEM. When you complete the foreign exchange, you will be more confident as you overcome a bunch of difficulties. You will be able to make friends with whom relationship will last after the exchange. If you have any questions regarding the QTEM, feel free to contact me on the following email address: [email protected]
【From International Students】
“As an international student in Japan, I was always interested in gaining more international experience, and QTEM was exactly what I was looking for. I did my exchange at Goethe University in Germany. My exchange experience improved my understanding of business in an international context, while the QTEM experience taught me great analytical skills that are critical in my everyday work, while bringing me many friends who have been very helpful both in my career and life even today.”

The QTEM gives the opportunity to all its students to live abroad for two semesters. You get the chance to discover two different cultures and lifestyles, but also to meet open and talented people. Furthermore, the QTEM allows you to study in three different universities which widens your course panel and therefor boosts your career perspectives. Finally, the QTEM represents a unique challenge, but also experience for every student. The QTEM gives the opportunity to all its students to live abroad for two semesters. Waseda University is indeed one of Asia’s top universities. The course offering is large, professors all graduated from renowned universities or worked for successful companies and organisations and all this is happening on a beautiful campus in the heart of Tokyo. Moreover, it is principally the opportunity of living in Tokyo and Japan which has led me to my choice. Tokyo is probably one of the most fascinating cities in the world and Japan one of its most diversified countries.
As challenging the QTEM might seems, it will definitely be a life choice you will not regret. For the next two years, you will probably have some of the best times of your life. Traveling around the globe, meeting amazing and different people, partying in world cities, studying in renowned universities and enhancing your career prospects, this is all what the QTEM is about to offer you.

Besides the normal master’s degree that I am following at my university, I decided to apply for the QTEM. First, this programme gives students the opportunity to have 2 exchanges in its partner universities. Studying in another country is an incredible chance because it offers students another way of thinking, learning and studying and it enables them to meet new people, cultures and sometimes improve or learn a new language. Also a long or short internship involving quants is required, a way to perfectly put theory into practice. This gives students a great capacity of adaptation for their future professional careers. Secondly, QTEM is focused on quantitative studies in business, economics and management. After graduating, the students can be sure to have a strong quantitative background and will be ready to start their professional life with an immense set of analytical skills. Last but not least, the QTEM is a great network of students, universities and corporations all over the world. You will get in touch with a lot of great companies and meet awesome, interesting people whom you will learn a lot from during and certainly after your master’s degree.
I chose Waseda University for several reasons. First of all, Waseda University is situated in the earth of Tokyo, the capital of Japan. I really wanted to discover this amazing country, especially Tokyo, for its culture and the way life is going on. For a European like me it’s an incredible experience. Secondly, Waseda University has a good reputation, having formed several Prime Ministers of Japan. So, I definitely wanted to have the opportunity to follow courses in the GSE and the GSC, to enhance my analytical skills, in a ‘Wasedian’ style.
I would definitely recommend you to apply for this programme, since it will have an enormous positive impact on your academic, professional and personal life. The QTEM is for sure an added value. Besides, you will be part of a great network, which people will remain adherent to, and that will help you in a first time during your Master and then all along your professional life. Furthermore, as the QTEM is a young programme, it has a lot of potential and it is growing really fast, so I wouldn’t miss the opportunity apply for it, otherwise you will regret. If you have any question regarding the application, the preparation for the GMAT, my personal experience or the QTEM in general, please feel free to contact me on the following email address:

The combination of quantitative focus and international experience did it for me. In an increasingly complicated world, it is important to have a thorough knowledge of theory, but also of the tools you need to solve any problem in front of you. You cannot go wrong with mathematics and statistics.
I wanted to learn more about the Japanese economy and how the country is coping with low growth and deflation. Waseda has a good reputation in Japan, and the school has met all my expectations.
Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself to follow a slightly more complicated path to graduation. It is rewarding, you will learn a lot, meet many nice people and be a strong candidate in the job market.
Matteo Nobile from Dipartimento Di Economia E Finanza, Luiss Guido Carli Univerersity
Most of recruiters consider international education and experience as a fundamental requirement for any candidate. With QTEM, you will have it twice as wide as everyone else will, at least. World is much bigger than your home country, I chose QTEM because it meant exploring culture, people, opinions and approaches to studies. An optimal study path with QTEM involves four different countries to be lived in during a two-year Master Degree. QTEM because it does not end in classes, instead comes with you during your long internship. Furthermore, QTEM network means that you will be in contact with hundreds of people around the world, forever. In few years it will be common to meet another QTEM student during your job life and we all know how much connections are related to personal success.
First, I chose Asia because I needed a completely different experience: exchanges between European countries have already been mainstream for too long. Asia offers a stimulating and challenging environment that tests your real attitudes to internationalization. Then, I chose Japan because it is the engine of innovation in Asia, but still, it keeps most of its traditions. Japan is modernity and wisdom at the same time. Waseda because results are what matters. Waseda’s alumni are simply excellent. Coincidence is not responsible for bringing seven prime ministers and top-tier managers from this university to where they are now.
QTEM is not an easy choice. You will face tough challenges that most people would never overcome. QTEM is public relations and quantitative skills and you will not be able to leave anything out of consideration. On the other side, choosing QTEM will allow you to enter a global top program, widely diffused among multinational companies of any field that will keep a special eye on you. You will see the world, you will meet the world, you will study the world. If you feel ready, sign up. You will live two of the best years in your life. Contact for more information or GMAT advising:
