Profile

Professor Asaba received Ph.D. in economics from the University of Tokyo and Ph.D. in management from UCLA. He joined the faculty of economics, Gakushuin University, Japan, in 1990, and taught strategy, business economics, and so on for more than 20 years. He joined the faculty of WBS in 2013. His research interests include behaviors of Japanese firms and industrial organization, competition and cooperation among rivals, industrial standards, globalization of Japan, innovation in the retail sector, and impacts of ownership and governance structure on corporate behavior. He will serve as president of Academic Association for Organization Science, the largest and the most prominent academic association of management in Japan from 2015 fall.
