In March 2025, the Graduate School of Business and Finance, Waseda University (Waseda Business School: WBS) was awarded the EQUIS reaccreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
EQUIS is an institutional accreditation system for business and management schools. It is managed by EFMD, which is the internationally acknowledged accreditation body based in Brussels, Belgium.
EQUIS
EFMD specifies many factors to fulfill for the accreditation. An institution needs to work for years to meet the requirements. Over the course of preparation, the institution prepares a Self-Assessment Report that contains the faculty’s scholarly achievements and institutional general statistics, among many others, factors.
The EQUIS accreditation process also includes rigor assessments by a peer review team appointed by EFMD, in more than 90 aspects, such as the quality and assurance of educational programs and advanced research activities, as well as the EQUIS’s three core pillars of internationalization, ERS(Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability), and corporate connection.
There are currently more than 13000 business schools in the world, but only 226 of them are EQUIS accredited schools. It is an honor for WBS to be on the list which proves that we have one of the world’s best standards of education and research.
