Research Theme
In today’s business environment, which continues to evolve with unprecedented speed and complexity, the globalization of business has moved beyond a phase of simple expansion and entered a stage of restructuring and redefinition. Rising geopolitical risks, increasing diversity in institutional frameworks and values across countries, and the rapid advancement of AI and data technologies are fundamentally reshaping the sources of competitive advantage. Against this backdrop, we seek to advance research on transnational HRM that can effectively address these challenges beyond the limits of traditional frameworks.

Research Summary
Since its establishment, this institute has researched more effective human resource management methods in light of changes in human resource management in companies’ overseas business expansion, and has sought to disseminate its findings widely to society. Furthermore, while conducting transnational HRM research (TN-HRM) theoretically and empirically, it adopts a transnational research format, aiming to promote organizational evolution in global companies and cultivate researchers and practitioners who can contribute on a global scale.
Based on the knowledge and network gained at the Transnational HRM Institute over the past 18 years,we aim to further promote information exchange and collaboration among industry, government, andacademia to timely grasp the challenges (needs) currently faced by Japanese companies regarding human resource management, connect these challenges to academic efforts toward solving them, and feed research results back into industry.
The following are planned for future research:
(1) Holding symposiums and seminars (on a bimonthly basis)
(2) Holding thematic research meetings
(3) Publishing a newsletter once or twice a year
(4) Collaboration with various institutions domestically and internationally, international exchange, and building research networks
(5) Aiming to conduct one commissioned research project each year, a commissioned research task force will be formed each year to work on the project and report the results.
