Research Theme
We are conducting research on the following themes as frameworks and tools for innovation financing: corporate venture capital (CVC), hybrid (matching) funds (public-private funds), startup ecosystems, and effectuation. We also examine the connections between these topics and various issues related to innovation creation outside the realm of finance.

Research Summary
For the last nearly 30 years, Japanese organizations—including companies and universities— have been unable to deliver innovative products and services that dominate global markets on the scale they once did, although their research and technological levels may have been somehow competitive. One of the reasons for this is that funding for innovation remains at an extremely low level compared to other
countries, particularly the United States and China.
This institute was established in the fall of 2016 to promote collaboration with private companies and government organizations and to propose solutions to the challenging pains. Since then, we have received research funding from private companies and governments, enabling us to actively do research activities on various issues with them. We have also been fortunate to have opportunities to disseminate our research findings to society in general through regularly held research seminars and other events as well as online, which allows us to reach over 1,800 registered participants instantly.
