Universitas 21 (U21) is an international network of 27 leading research-intensive universities founded in 1997. Waseda University has been a member of Universitas21 Network from Japan and contributing a various U21 activity.
1. コース概要/ Overview of course
The U21 Sustainable Micro-Internships are a 2-week online programme designed to give students the opportunity to collaborate with peers from across our global network. You will be introduced to an organisation that is actively working on advancing one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and you will be set a real-life current organisational challenge to work on, in small groups.
This exclusive opportunity is only available to students at U21 member universities and is open to students of all disciplines.
Throughout the programme participants will engage with and learn from students across the globe.

Over the two-week programme, you will be presented with an ongoing sustainability challenge from your host employer and work in groups to innovate a solution and how to communicate this with senior stakeholders. The internships involve approximately 5.5 hours per week for two weeks, comprised of:
- 2.5 hours live session per week
- 2-3 hours per week of Individual and group work in-between sessions
In addition to the opportunity to earn a digital micro-credential, you will also gain skills top employers demand including:
- Agility – the ability to adapt to new environments, to grasp topics outside of your academic specialism and work with difference.
- International Collaboration – first-hand experience of working across different timezones, languages and cultures, bringing together global knowledge to deliver results for an employer.
- Influence – the ability to build trust and solve complex problems quickly.
- Presentation Skills – the ability to clear convey complex information to your stakeholders.
Successful completion of the programme and all activities will earn you the Leading Change micro-credential which you can display on your LinkedIn profile, demonstrating that you have developed the skills to tackle complex global issues and stand up as a leader.

No cost to students, U21 are covering the full cost of this opportunity.
5. 定員/Spaces available
40 spaces at Waseda University.
6. 申請資格/Eligibility
・ Any regular undergraduate and postgraduate students
・ All applicants must be over the age of 18 at the time of the course start date.
・ Ability to read, write, speak and listen English is a must
7. 備考/Notes
Please note that classes of the fall semester at Waseda University are given a priority. This is a non-credit program and not a Waseda regular course. Therefore, you are expected to coordinate your time schedule when you join this program.
