Enrollment in the following courses is subject to availability of lab classes and to prior approval by the institute/department: Biochemistry, Bioinformatics and Biology. Restrictions apply in Pharmacy, Law, Business Administration and Economics. The Law Department prefers direct exchange students from institutions who also accept law students. There are only very few places available for other exchange programs. The School of Business Administration and Economics requires excellent German language skills (at least level B2) for classes taught in German. There is only a varying and very limited number of classes in English. Please note that Human Medicine and Veterinary Medicine are NOT open to exchange students.

Q15-2: If you do not adopt semester system, please provide information above based on your academic calendar.: We do not have a minimum requirement for students to keep their full-time student status. In general, most students take between 15 and 30 credits per semester. However, every department has different regulations regarding ECTS, so some courses may have 3 ECTS when others offer 7 ECTS. That means some students take 2 classes, whilst some are very motivated and take 4 or 5. We let the students decide on their own with the home university

Q17-2: Are there any restrictions regarding course requirements (e.g. programs not open to exchange students) or other specific information about the curriculum?: The Freie Universitaet Berlin offers a range of master programs. The following programs are open for exchange students without restriction: Modern German Literature, Philosophy and Political Science. All other master programs are restricted and need prior approval by the institute / department. Admission to a master's program (non-degree status) is only possible with the approval of the department offering the master's program.

Q22: Please provide comments or any other useful information (e.g. fact sheet URL, visa, orientation, local information) if available.: Exchange students must have comprehensive health insurance valid in Germany in order to enroll as full- time students at Freie Universitat Berlin AND to obtain a residence permit. Students who EITHER have the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or the Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) OR who can provide proof of an adequate comprehensive health insurance valid in Germany (full coverage for illness and emergency medical services) may request an insurance waiver. Please note that a waiver can only be obtained from a German state-regulated health insurance company, not from the university. Since many insurance policies purchased outside Germany require substantial co-payments, have caps, or exclude many illnesses, it has become increasingly difficult for exchange students to obtain a waiver. We therefore urge all students under the age of 30 to purchase German student health insurance for about ? 131 per month. German student health insurance policies are very comprehensive and are automatically accepted by the office granting residence permits. 中期プログラム／出願上の注意ー Notes on Application to Semester Programs

留学が必修となっている国際教養学部の学生は、学部の許可をとった上で応募してください。
For SILS students participation in a year-long study abroad program is part of the general degree requirements.
Therefore, you must consult with your School Office in advance if you wish to apply to a semester program(s).
通年科目が設置されている学部に属する学生が春学期留学をする場合、科目登録ができず、帰国後の秋学期の授業を受けられない可能性があります。
その他、専門演習（ゼミ）の登録や履修ができない等、支障が出る可能性がありますので、所属学部・研究科に問い合わせ、よく確認の上、出願して下さい。
If your School has year-long programs, it is essential that you consult with your School Office before applying to a seminar program(s) as there will be a possibility that you may not be able to register for courses in the second (fall) semester and/or seminars (enshu, or so-called "zemi").
延長生となって中期留学プログラムに参加する場合、学費は延長生学費ではなく、所定額をお支払いいただくことになります。

Students on extension (encho-sei) who participate in semester programs are required to pay the full tuition and other academic fees set by their Schools instead of the reduced fees for students on extension.You should confirm details with your School Offices.
