Universitas 21(U21)は、世界を代表する30の研究大学から構成される国際大学コンソーシアムとして、1997年に設立されました。本学は今日、本邦唯一の加盟大学としてU21の様々な活動に参画しています。
Universitas 21 (U21) is an international network of 30 leading research-intensive universities founded in 1997. Waseda University has been a member of Universitas21 Network from Japan and contributing a various U21 activities.
1. U21 Global Citizenshipコースの概要/ Overview of course
オンデマンド授業だけでなく、U21加盟校の参加学生と共に学ぶリアルタイム講義が組み合わされたコース内容です。このコースはU21から提供されているもので、本学の正規科目ではありません。
This course combines on-demand lectures with real-time sessions where students learn alongside participants from other U21 member institutions. Please note that this is provided by U21 and is NOT a Waseda University’s regular course. U21 is offering an online, international opportunity for students around the world this March.
U21 Global Citizens develop ideas together, across borders and time zones. You will develop the skills needed to thrive in the 21st century whilst tackling some of the world’s most pressing problems, outlined in the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). With the support of trained facilitators, participants are guided to reflect on the improvement in their cultural competency and awareness throughout the course and how they, as individuals and as groups, can turn their learning into valuable global action.
The three-week programme launches on 9 March. Each week requires around 3.5 hours of online learning that you can complete in your own time. In addition, during there are real-time, online reflection workshops, where you will draw on the learning from that week and engage in discussions with other students from across the globe.
Over the three-week programme you will:
- Connect, learn and discuss global issues with students around the world including social and environmental challenges. You will be part of a cohort of up to 2000 student innovators across the world.
- Experience international co-operation and leadership that is flexible around your studies. You will undertake around 3.5 hours/week of learning across 3 weeks of online engagement, discussions and development.
- Meet like-minded individuals to develop ideas for social change. You will have time to work in smaller groups on the topics that interest you via additional, optional online workshops run in real-time with students across the world. These workshops consolidate learning and create connections. Students will have the opportunity to choose to attend sessions at a time that suits them.
- Take the first steps to creating your own social enterprise innovation via access to insights from global leaders who will share their knowledge and experience.
As a result of the programme, you will be:
- Equipped to take rapid action on the Sustainable Development Goal that you choose.
- Able to step outwards and collaborate with diverse networks.
- Ready to challenge preconceptions and better inform people’s perspectives.
- Better equipped to operate across hierarchies.
- Better prepared to live and maintain your values and integrity.

2. コース期間/Course dates
The programme will take place between 9-27 March 2026
Approximately 3.5 hours per week for three weeks, comprised of:
・1.5 hours live session per week
・2 hours per week of Individual work at own pace

Direct applications to U21 via Application form by 13 February.

No cost to members or students, U21 are covering the full cost of this opportunity.
5.申請資格/Eligibility
Any regular undergraduate and postgraduate students
All applicants must be over the age of 18 at the time of the course start date.
6.語学要件/Language Requirements
Ability to read, write, speak and listen fluently English is a must.
7.備考/Notes
Please note that this course which U21 initiates is not situated as Waseda regular courses. Therefore, classes at Waseda University are given a priority. Please be aware that absences or tardiness in regular Waseda courses due to this course will not be permitted.
