★For Non-GSPM Students
This summer, the GSPM offers a week-long, intensive Field Study program in cooperation with Shinjuku City Hall under the headline “Aspects of a ‘Glocal’ Society.”
In today’s society, the nature of issues, national or local, is such that no issue can be resolved without bringing together perspectives that are both global (those that are universal) and local (those that are specific to a particular community or its culture). In this program, students are expected to gain first-hand knowledge of such issues, explore them, and develop their own ideas of resolving them. The city (officially the ward) of Shinjuku, of which Waseda is a part, was chosen as it offers the students the best opportunities for such learning.
The program consists of lectures on municipal challenges and issues by instructors and guest speakers from City Hall, site visits and interviews, discussions, and group work to analyze and develop the participants’ own solutions from their own fresh perspective.
Program Schedule | August 5 – 10, 2013Students are also required to attend an advance lecture session on June 22nd(3rd & 4th Period@Room1202 of Bldg.26) |
