- 早稲田大学教育学部主催「マレーシアにおける多文化共生」特別講義開催― 在京マレーシア大使館 ジェフリー・メイヤー一等書記官が登壇 ―2025年10月21日、早稲田大学早稲田キャンパスにて、教育学部主催の特別講義「マレーシアにおける多文化共生（Multicultural Co-existence in Malaysia）」が開催された。講師には在京マレーシア大使館のジェフリー・メイヤー一等書記官を迎え、企画・運営はソン ウォンソ先生（秀明大学講師・本学非常勤講師）が担当した。ジェフリー・メイヤー書記官は、「Malaysia, Truly Asia（マレーシア 本当のアジア）」をテーマに、マレーシアの多民族社会、宗教的多様性、教育制度、そして日本との関係について紹介した。講義では、歴史や祭り、食文化、自然、建築などにも触れ、学生たちは多文化共生国家としてのマレーシアの姿を多面的に学んだ。ジェフリー書記官は「マレーシアは多文化共生を基盤とする社会のモデルであり、日本との協力関係も一層重要になっている」と述べ、ASEAN議長国としての役割や地域連携の意義を強調した。講義の締めくくりには「Visit Malaysia 2026（ビジット・マレーシア2026）」の映像が上映され、クイズ正解者にはマレーシアの特産品や観光記念品が贈られた。ソン ウォンソ先生は、「学生がアジアの多様性と共生の意義を実感する貴重な機会になった」と語った。
- Special Lecture on “Multicultural Co-existence in Malaysia” Held at Waseda University― Featuring Mr. Jeffry Meyer, First Secretary of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo ―On October 21, 2025, Waseda University’s Faculty of Education hosted a special lecture titled “Multicultural Co-existence in Malaysia” at the Waseda Campus. The event featured Mr. Jeffry Meyer, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, and was organized by Dr. Wonsuh Song (Lecturer at Shumei University and Part-time Lecturer at Waseda University).Mr. Jeffry Meyer delivered his lecture under the theme “Malaysia, Truly Asia,” introducing Malaysia’s multicultural society, religious diversity, education system, and its relations with Japan. The presentation also covered topics such as history, festivals, cuisine, tropical fruits, nature, and architecture, offering students a comprehensive view of Malaysia’s identity as a nation built on coexistence.Mr. Jeffry emphasized that “Malaysia is a model of multicultural harmony and a key partner for Japan in the region,” highlighting the country’s role as the 2025 ASEAN Chair and its growing importance in regional cooperation.
The session concluded with a screening of the Visit Malaysia 2026 promotional video, and quiz winners received Malaysian specialty products and souvenirs. Dr. Song commented that the lecture provided “a valuable opportunity for students to experience the diversity of Asia and reflect on the meaning of coexistence in today’s interconnected world.”
