A Table of Typography -Savoring Typefaces through Reading-
When choosing a book, we tend to focus entirely on the “content,” paying little attention to the typography that delivers those words. However, typefaces dictate the “temperature” and “texture” of the language. They are an essential presence, acting as the very skin that envelops the text.
Guided by Kyoko Masaki’s essay Moji no Shokutaku (A Dining Table of Letters), this exhibition invites you into the rich world of typefaces. By aligning books set in the same typeface, unexpected connections across entirely different genres begin to emerge.
This exhibition is held simultaneously at the Central Library and the Toyama Library, with each location featuring a different selection of books. We invite you to visit the “tables” at both libraries and rediscover the diverse flavors of the printed word.
