長期留学から帰国した後の時間を有効利用!テーマスタディーで英語力をキープ!

主に6月~8月頃2~4週間程度で開講されている協定校のサマースクールです。
語学留学ではなく、テーマに沿った学びをするテーマスタディーで、早稲田大学の授業期間中に開講されるので、長期留学から帰国したばかりの学生におすすめです。

なお、以下のプログラムは協定校に応募する前に早稲田大学で選考(ノミネーション)が必要ですので、まずは早稲田大学に応募をしていただきます。

学内選考後の航空券やビザの手配等は各自で行っていただきます。ただし、海外旅行保険および海外携帯電話にについては早稲田大学指定のものをご利用いただきます(自己負担)。

注意

  • 多くのプログラムが早稲田大学の授業期間中に実施されます。各自でプログラム実施期間を確認し、学部・大学院の科目履修に影響がないよう、十分に注意してください。
    現在留学中の方は、各自で留学先大学の科目履修等に影響がないことを確認してから応募してください。
  • 応募は早稲田大学正規学生に限ります。
    また、学内選考を行いますので、学内締切日までに所定の書類(早稲田大学指定の申込書、誓約書含む)を提出してください。締切を越えての受付はできません。なお、協定校に直接申込むことはできません。
  • 学内選考後の航空券、ビザ等の手配は各自の責任で行ってください。

As part of the scholarship cohort, students will be asked to undertake a special group task on the theme of ‘Global Citizenship and Intercultural Experiences’

The scholarship is available with $300 USD each, reducing the cost of the programme to approximately $580. (Students are required to complete a personal statement (max 500 words) answering the question ‘How will you challenge yourself on this programme to expand your global outlook?)’.

Tsinghua International Summer School – Experiencing China 2019

【Eligibility】Two students (Freshman/Sophomore/Junior/Senior/Postgraduates)

  • Foreign nationals currently attending college/university;
  • Must be at least 18 but no more than 30 years of age as of July 11th, 2019; and be in good health;
  • The program is conducted in English; students are required to provide proof of English proficiency if their first language or teaching language in home institution is not English; please provide one of the following documents as reference:

The program offers small interactive classes, and there are seven tracks available in the Chinese context. 【Program Detail】

For the 2019 Undergraduate Leadership Program, “Untangling the Knot: Pacific Rim Environment, Health and Inequality Challenges” students from the Pacific Rim will come to the environmentally-focused state of Oregon to apply new thinking to untangle three intertwined social dilemmas: environmental degradation, public health risks and social inequality.

Students will work in small teams to address a real-world issue in one of these areas (e.g., environment), while working through how the challenge is entangled with the other two areas (health and social inequality). Representatives from locally-based community organizations working on these issues will develop challenges for the teams and at the end of the program will pick the best student group solutions.

The 12-day program will combine high impact educational practices including research and community-based learning with intensive leadership development and the application of scientific knowledge to societal dilemmas. Students will engage in skills development workshops in areas such as team building, science communication and non-profit management.  They will attend leadership lectures, interact with faculty experts, experience organized excursions and cultural activities and develop real world action plans for solving these pressing social dilemmas.

International Summer School 2019

【Eligibility】

Have completed the first year of university study by the time of commencement of the summer school and with good academic standing.Majority of the Summer School subjects are designed primarily for bachelor’s degree students. Advanced Topics in Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics and Advanced Topics in Research Methodology for Language Sciences which are designed for postgraduate students in a broad range of disciplines (e.g. linguistics, psychology, neurolinguistics, speech therapy, rehabilitation sciences), while senior-year bachelor’s degree students who are interested in language, cognition and neuroscience are also welcome.

Study Load
Students can take up to two 3-credit subjects. Each subject is of 39 contact hours. The classes will be scheduled either from 9 am to 12 pm or from 2 pm to 5 pm on weekdays.

Medium of Instruction
The programme, including all classes and activities, will be conducted in English.

Class Attendance & Assessments
Students need to attend all classes and an examination and fulfill the assessments as required by the subject.

Credit Transfer Arrangements
If you wish to receive credits from the Summer School subjects, you will need to contact the appropriate academic authorities in your home university in advance. We strongly advise you to do this BEFORE you apply for the Summer School. Each subject carries three PolyU credits.

本プログラムは、本学校友である柳井正氏(㈱ファーストリテイリング代表取締役会長兼社長)のご寄付により設立された「The Tadashi Yanai Initiative for Globalizing Japanese Humanities」のプログラムの一つとして、新鋭な日本学研究者が多く所属するカリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校(UCLA)に1クォーター(3か月間)滞在し、UCLA をはじめとする米国大学の日本学研究者・大学院生との交流を通じて、国際的な日本学研究の視点を学ぶ機会を提供するものです。

博士後期課程学生 1 名

3. 対象者
日本文学研究または日本における演劇・映像研究のいずれかを専門分野とする学生で、早稲田大学大学院博士後期課程に正規生として在学中の者

4. 派遣期間
春派遣:2019 年 3 月下旬~6 月下旬(1クォーター) 約 3 か月間
*UCLA が学期として定める期間 (3/27-6/14) に関わらず、現地での滞在期間は出発から 3 か月の派遣となります。

・UCLA 派遣中の学籍は「在学」のままです。
・応募に際しては、事前に指導教員の許可を得てください。
・2016年度秋学期に関しても、在学生として研究指導の科目が自動登録されます。派遣期間はスカイプ等
を利用して研究指導を受けてください。
・帰国後 1 か月をめどに 1,000 字程度のレポート(成果報告書)をメール添付にて担当者までご提出くださ

【Eligibility】
PHD full-time Student (1 student only) who primarily focuses their study on either Japanese literature or theater activities / visual media expression in Japan.

Program Detail
【Expected Expense】
designated overseas traveler’s insurance, charge fee for designated mobile phone except gadget’s rental fee, insurance cost by UCLA ($1034), library member fee ($28), and other miscellaneous fees.
【Benefit】
Flight ticket (Economy class) between Tokyo and LA, accommodation fee, allowance ($5000 per semester), miscellaneous exemption for UCLA registration cost, observer for UCLA lectures if permitted by each professor, language support by UCLA students
【Notice】
You must purchase a return flight ticket and overseas insurance voucher for this program. Also, you need to pay tuition to Waseda as a full-time student while you are abroad. Before your application, please ask your professor to get his/her authorization so that you can receive professor’s educational direction through a skype. You are obliged to submit an essay (1000 words) after your completion of the research program. Finally, a candidate is required to attend study-abroad session, organized by CIE, before your departure. Please inform the School of Humanities and Social Science office if you are a member of “日本学術振興会・特別研究員”

Ahead of your further inquiry toward the partner university, please read through all of the relevant information including a) terms & conditions, and b)application procedure, You need to submit both 応募シート and 誓約書, to “〒162-8644 東京都新宿区戸山1-24-1 早稲田大学文学学術院事務所国際担当” by either an e-mail and postal service until 17:00 December 6th, 2018.

If you successfully acquire your position as a candidate, you will follow the next procedures for both nomination (by the School of Humanities and Social Science office, Waseda) and application toward the partner university. The office will interview those candidates in the middle of December. Further details will be announced through an email.
