ベルギーのルーヴァンにある大学。1425年にローマ教皇マルティヌス5世によって創立され、現存するカトリック系大学では世界最古である。また低地地方(ネーデルランド)において最古の大学である。第一次世界大戦におけるドイツ軍のルーヴァン侵攻によって、大学図書館などキャンパスの多くの建物が焼失したが、戦後再建された。ルーヴァンの街全体にキャンパスが点在しており、フランダース西部のKortrijkにもキャンパスを持つ。

30 ECTS credits is the standard work load. Exchange students are advised to take 24-30 credits and should never take less than 18 credits. 1 ECTS credit = 25 to 30 hours of work (including both course work and individual study and work hours).

Exchange students register at one Faculty and take up the majority of their courses/credits at that Faculty. Almost all Faculties allow some flexibility to add courses from other Faculties to the student's course package. General rules are: max. 2 courses outside of the affiliated Faculty or min. 50% of credits at the affiliated Faculty. Some faculties have stricter restrictions. Some specific courses may not be open to exchange students.
Q18: Types of accommodation available for students
Dormitory/Homestay/Apartment house/ *Two housing options exist: in a university residence hall (places are more limited) or on the private market (very common among local students). Some rooms on the private market may be in the context of a homestay. The most common type of accommodation is a student room or studio in a private-market student house or residence. A standard student room ("kot") comes with a shared bathroom and kitchen, although more and more rooms offer a private bathroom. Studios and apartments are larger and fully private, but are more costly.

  • 留学が必修となっている国際教養学部の学生は、学部の許可をとった上で応募してください。
    For SILS students participation in a year-long study abroad program is part of the general degree requirements.
    Therefore, you must consult with your School Office in advance if you wish to apply to a semester program(s).
  • 通年科目が設置されている学部に属する学生が春学期留学をする場合、 科目登録ができず、帰国後の秋学期の授業を受けられない可能性があります。
    その他、専門演習(ゼミ)の登録や履修ができない等、支障が出る可能性がありますので、 所属学部・研究科に問い合わせ、よく確認の上、出願して下さい。
    If your School has year-long programs, it is essential that you consult with your School Office before applying to a seminar program(s) as there will be a possibility that you may not be able to register for courses in the second (fall) semester and/or seminars (enshu, or so-called "zemi").
  • 延長生となって中期留学プログラムに参加する場合、学費は延長生学費ではなく、所定額をお支払いいただくことになります。

    Students on extension (encho-sei) who participate in semester programs are required to pay the full tuition and other academic fees set by their Schools instead of the reduced fees for students on extension.You should confirm details with your School Offices.
