北京大学は1989年に創設された京師大学堂を前身とする国立の総合大学である。1950年代の全国的大学再編を受けて、北京大学は文理系の基礎教学と研究を中心とした総合大学となり、多くの人材を輩出してきた。北京大学は同じく北京にある清華大学と並んで中国の最難関大学とされる。43学部に学生数30,000人を擁し、教員数も3,000人を超える。また、北京大学図書館は703万冊の蔵書を誇り、アジア最大規模の図書館とされる。

New HSK6 180 points or above. According to our past experience, Japanese students normally meet difficulties in Chinese listening and speaking even if they received highscore in HSK Level 6 test. HSK certificate is not mandatory. However, when students submit applications, they are required to test Chinese proficiency by trying Chinese-taught MOOC courses and fill out the Study Plan Form. If they are confident in their Chinese proficiency, they can choose to give up Chinese language learning. However, once they do that, they cannot change to learn Chinese any more after registration.

Regarding naturalization, please refer to the details in Q9-2. *Language Eligibility: To reach and submit either the fourth level 180 score or above of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK), or 3 kyu of The Society for Testing Chinese Proficiency, Japan before the process of Waseda internal selection, although Peking University/Fudan University/National Taiwan University expects candidates to attain the equivalent fifth level 180 score or above of HSK at the time of Peking University/Fudan University/National Taiwan University application or enrollment. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens (according to Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China), with a valid passport between the ages of 18 and 25 (born after September 1, 2005). According to the Ministry of Education, residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan who have emigrated to other countries and are applying to Peking University as international students must present a valid passport or citizenship documents attained before April 30, 2019, and proof of their renunciation of Chinese nationality, along with proof of residence abroad for at least 2 years between April 30, 2019 and April 30, 2023 (9 months of residence abroad per year may be considered as one year). According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, a person whose parents are both Chinese citizens and have settled in a foreign country, and who has foreign nationality at birth, is not considered to have Chinese nationality. Starting from 2021, such a person may apply as an international student to enter the undergraduate level of Chinese colleges and universities if, in addition to meeting the school’s other registration qualifications, he/she also holds a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate that was issued before April 30, 2019, and has a record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years between April 30, 2019 and April 30, 2023. (At least 9 months of actual residence in a foreign country in a year may be counted as one year, and will be determined according to the entry and exit stamps in his/her passport).

  • 留学が必修となっている国際教養学部の学生は、学部の許可をとった上で応募してください。
    For SILS students participation in a year-long study abroad program is part of the general degree requirements.
    Therefore, you must consult with your School Office in advance if you wish to apply to a semester program(s).
  • 通年科目が設置されている学部に属する学生が春学期留学をする場合、 科目登録ができず、帰国後の秋学期の授業を受けられない可能性があります。
    その他、専門演習(ゼミ)の登録や履修ができない等、支障が出る可能性がありますので、 所属学部・研究科に問い合わせ、よく確認の上、出願して下さい。
    If your School has year-long programs, it is essential that you consult with your School Office before applying to a seminar program(s) as there will be a possibility that you may not be able to register for courses in the second (fall) semester and/or seminars (enshu, or so-called "zemi").
  • 延長生となって中期留学プログラムに参加する場合、学費は延長生学費ではなく、所定額をお支払いいただくことになります。
    詳細は各学部・研究科にお問い合わせください。
    Students on extension (encho-sei) who participate in semester programs are required to pay the full tuition and other academic fees set by their Schools instead of the reduced fees for students on extension.You should confirm details with your School Offices.
