The GSPM offers a week-long, intensive Field Study program in cooperation with Shinjuku City Hall under the headline “Aspects of a ‘Glocal’Society.”
In today’s society, the nature of issues, national or local, is such that no issue can be resolved without bringing together perspectives that are both global (those that are universal) and local (those that are specific to a particular community or its culture). In this program, students are expected to gain first-hand knowledge of such issues, explore them, and develop their own ideas of resolving them. The city (officially the ward) of Shinjuku, of which Waseda is a part, was chosen as it offers students the best opportunities for such learning.
