Grades and Graduation

The applications will be accepted before the end of the 3rd semester (first semester of second year). The details will be delivered through MyWaseda e-mail about a month prior to the end of the semester.

Official GPA (Grade Point Averages) system applies to those who entered in or after Spring semester, 2010. Waseda University does not have the GPA system for those who entered in or before Fall semester, 2009.
GPA for Waseda study abroad application is calculated based on the Center for International Education’s policy.

The “Note on the Use of GPA at Waseda University” which is posted on the SILS Website will be useful for those who entered in or before 2009, who requires the GPA on the grade report .

“所定”…all credits you need to earn by graduation
“既得 “… credits you actually earned
“算入”…number of your credits considered as requirements for graduation.
⇒You need to complete the following requirements to graduate:

  1. Earn the required number of credits for each category.
  2. Total credits must be 124 or more.
  3. Take Introductory Courses from at least 3 different clusters.
  4. Complete required study abroad programs (for SP1 students)
  5. If you are exempted from taking Advanced Seminar and Directed Studies for Senior Thesis, the credits for these courses must be replaced by taking designated courses.
  6. [For early graduation] You have received an A or A+ for your Graduation Thesis if you registered it.

The Certificate of expected graduation and the certificate of GPA are not issued before the designated day.
Concerning recruiting or admission, please utilize this letter in order to explain to the institution who needs the certificate.
