Library Workshops in Spring Semester 2025

The library will be holding a series of workshops in the spring semester 2025.

Learn search techniques and acquire how to use academic materials for literature reviews!
Take this opportunity to familiarise yourself with academic resources and improve your research skills!

Main Targets:

Students and faculty of Waseda University *Waseda ID holders

Workshop programs in English:

1) Literature review survey clinic

  • Program overview :
    Literature review survey is essential for writing a thesis or master’s thesis. Knowing about previous research can help you review your own problem interests or methods and bring you closer to original research. If you have any problems with literature review survey or would like to discuss them, please feel free to contact us!
  • Open to :
    Mainly 3rd year or above undergraduate students and 1st year or above master’s students.
  • DBs to be introduced :
    *We will communicate this information based on the progress of the literature review and the topic.
  • Location :
    Online via ZOOM Selectable
  • Consultation time :
    May 21 (Wed.) and July 4 (Fri.), 2025
    Monday-Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (last entry at 4:30 p.m.)
    About 30 minutes per session

Application & Notes:

  • Please click here to register at least one week prior to your desired date and time.
  • Please review the library content on Waseda Moodle before applying.
  • Please list at least three preferred dates when applying.
  • You may attend the workshop with a friend(s). *Only one representative needs to apply.
  • Please check the details in the e-mail which will be sent to your Waseda email address at least one day before the workshop.
  • You will need to install the Zoom application in advance. We recommend that you prepare a separate device (smartphone or PC) for screen sharing and a PC for searching together.
  • (To those who require accommodation) Attendees who desire accommodations (PC speech-to-text interpretation; sign-language interpretation; guidance at venue; securing of seats), including those bringing children, should inform us at least 10 days before the date of the event. Upon consultation, we will accommodate your request to the greatest extent possible.

 

2) How to Use Library Resources Efficiently (Instructional Videos)

  • Program overview :
    Searching for information to serve as a reference is essential for writing reports and theses.
    The library offers a series of online videos about the basic usage of the library for your future study. You will learn how to find books, articles, newspaper articles, statistical data, and other useful library services that you should know about.
    The entire video is divided into 6 videos, each about 5 to 10 minutes long.
  • Open to :
    New students (undergraduate and graduate), people who are new to the library
  • DBs to be introduced :
    WINE, E-resource portal, Databases for e-books, e-journal articles and newspaper articles
  • Access to the videos:
    On-demand delivery via Waseda Moodle. You can take the course at your favorite time.
