Creative Media modules also require some prior knowledge. Also depends on module choice. Must have adequate pre-requisite knowledge for modules, where specified. Some classes in Life Sciences and Law may have pre-requisits. Some programmes have very limited spaces such as Engineering & Informatics as well as Creative Media. Students are advised to have alternative options. For Creative Media and Creative Production modules and Industry Projects, priority is given to students on media or related degree courses. Students applying for Engineering and Informatics courses Level 5 and Level 6 must show relevant programming skills etc. This will be assessed by an academic upon application. The student will be given further information of requirements. This is done on case-by-case basis so it is not possible for us to be specific about what exactly might be required.

Q.留学を通じて得た成果を教えてください

学習面では、開発学における今まで持っていなかった視点を得ることが出来ました。サセックスの開発学はまず開発学の批判から始まります。自分が今やっている学問事態を批判的に見て、その中で自分が今学んでいることが世のためになるかどうかをしっかり考えることができました。また、日本よりもアカデミア、という感じがしていて、引用やソースについてかなり厳しく、論文を書くということがどういうことなのかよくわかりました。精神面については、留学に来る前よりも言いたいことははっきり言えるようになりました。文句を言うことは良しとされないのが日本ですが、イギリスでは自分の意見をしっかり言わないと違う方向にどんどん進められていくように感じます。逆に、しっかり言えば考慮してくれることが多いです。メールの返信が遅い時やサービスに何か不満があるとき、向こうはむしろ意見を求めているように感じます。逆に、電車の遅延やキャンセルが当たり前であったり、ストライキが常に起きているので、気長に待つということができるようになりました。

Gender and Development

→　一般的にジェンダー学でされがちな女性を中心とするものではなく、Masculinityによって男性が強制されるもの、それが戦争や平和構築、及び開発にもたらす弊害についても言及されていた。紛争とGender Based Violenceというテーマは特に面白く、GBVが武器として使われることについて具体的なケースを使いながら勉強した。
