Starting in the 2025 academic year, the Faculty of Social Sciences has launched the Scholarship Registration Form for international students.

Graduate School Advancement Support Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

Shigeru Hasegawa Scholarship

The scholarship program has been established based on an endowment by Professor Emeritus Shigeru Hasegawa of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The scholarship offer will be made prior to the SSS student’s enrollment in GSSS so that they do not have to give up their studies at GSSS due to financial difficulties. (The scholarship will be awarded after admission to the GSSS.)
Students of the School of Social Sciences who apply for the “Admission by Internal Recommendation” are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
*Grant type scholarship from the Graduate School of Social Sciences. 500,000 yen per year.
*The students will be able to receive the payment during the standard term of study for the master’s program (an evaluation for continuation is required).

Emergency Scholarship

AY2025 Summer Waseda University Emergency Schoarship

“Waseda University Emergency Scholarship” is intended to support students who are facing  difficulty in continuing their studies due to a sudden and significant change in their families’ financial situation, such as their financial supporter’s loss of job, bankruptcy, sickness, death, natural disaster, or other unforeseen emergencies.The Scholarships and Financial Assistance Section usually publishes the application guidelines twice a year, in summer and winter.
◇Main Eligibility:
At the time of application, the sudden change in the family’s financial circumstances must have occurred within the past year (between August 2024 and July 2025).

Preparation of Official Sealed Document for Scholarships

If you are applying for a scholarship that requires the Dean’s official seal on your documents, please follow the instructions below:

■ Reservation (Required in Advance)
To make a reservation, please email us well in advance of the application deadline, clearly indicating the following information:

Information to include in your reservation email:
・Student ID number
・Full name
・Preferred date and time
*Please suggest multiple time slots during office hours: 10:00–16:00, allowing approx. one hour for the visit.
・Details of the documents requiring the official seal (please provide as much detail as possible)
*Note: If grade-related documents are required, it may take approximately 10 business days to prepare them.

■ Document Submission
Please complete and prepare all necessary application documents, including those requiring the Dean’s seal, and bring them in person to the School of Social Sciences Office (14th Building, 3rd Floor).
Your documents will be reviewed at the office, and if there are no issues, the Dean’s seal will be affixed.

■ Items to Bring
・Student ID card
・Complete set of application documents, including the scholarship guidelines and any forms requiring an official seal
*If your application includes an online form, please print out the completed input screen so the content can be reviewed.
Note: Displaying the form on a digital device will not be accepted.

・The Office of the School of Social Sciences does not issue recommendation letters or fill in recommendation sections.
