Notes

  1. Payment of Waseda University school fees is carried out by account transfer. The date for the account transfer of the spring semester is May 1. From the second year, the date for the account transfer for the fall semester is October 1.
  2. In the spring semester of the fourth year, a fee of 40,000 yen for membership in the Alumni Association (good for 10 years after graduation) is separately required.
  3. The membership dues may be updated at any time.
  4. When enrolling in courses, field work fees, auditing fees and other fees may also be separately required. For details, check the printed materials issued by each faculty and center.
  5. If the status of a student is deemed to have been forfeited prior to completion of studies as a result of non-payment of school fees, the student in question shall be dismissed and shall be considered to have withdrawn from the undergraduate school at the end of the last semester for which tuition fees were paid. If a student knows in advance that tuition fees will not be paid by the specified date, he or she is requested to consult with the school office.
  6. The assessment of school fees for students enrolled at school beyond the requisite number of years is based on the number of credits required for graduation at the end of the previous semester. For March graduation, only the fall semester fee is assessed.1) Tuition fees:
    (a) If the shortfall in credits is 4 credits or less, the student will be assessed at 50% of the stipulated amount for the fourth-year student in the target year.
    (b) If the shortfall in credits is 5 credits to 20 credits, the student will be assessed at 70% of the stipulated amount for the fourth-year student in the target year.
    (c) If the shortfall in credits is 21 credits or more, the student will be assessed at the entire stipulated amount for the fourth-year student in the target year.2) Educational Environment Improvement Fee: The stipulated amount for fourth-year students in the target year will be assessed.3) Membership dues: Students’ Library fee, Academic Association Annual fees, and the Student Health Promotion Mutual Aid Association fee are assessed.

  3. Shigeru Hasegawa Scholarship
    The scholarship program has been established based on an endowment by Professor Emeritus Shigeru Hasegawa of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
    The scholarship offer will be made prior to the SSS student’s enrollment in GSSS so that they do not have to give up their studies at GSSS due to financial difficulties. (The scholarship will be awarded after admission to the GSSS.)
    Students of the School of Social Sciences who apply for the “Admission by Internal Recommendation” are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
    *Grant type scholarship from the Graduate School of Social Sciences. 500,000 yen per year.
    *The students will be able to receive the payment during the standard term of study for the master’s program (an evaluation for continuation is required).
