当研究科博士後期課程に6年間在学し、博士論文を提出しないで在学年数満了により退学する者のうち、引き続き当研究科において博士論文作成のため、研究生として研究指導を受けようとする者は、選考のうえ研究生（非正規生）としての入学を許可します。
研究生の在学期間は１年です。ただし、研究生となったのち、研究指導を継続して受けようとするときは、原則として2回に限り研究生としての在学延長を認めます。
申請については以下の募集要項にてご確認下さい。
If a student completes six years in the Doctoral Program at IPS without submitting a doctoral dissertation and wishes to continue receiving research guidance for the purpose of completing the dissertation, they may be permitted to enroll as a Research Student (non-degree student) upon screening.
The period of enrollment as a Research Student is one year. However, if the student wishes to continue receiving research guidance after becoming a Research Student, the enrollment may be extended up to two additional times in principle.
