The Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies (GSAPS) at Waseda University has concluded a new inter-institutional agreement with the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS).

This agreement aims to further strengthen the academic exchange and educational cooperation that both institutions have cultivated over the years, and to advance high-level research and education on sustainability and the international community.

A signing ceremony was held on 5 February 2026 at the headquarters of the United Nations University in Tokyo.

The agreement will officially enter into force on 1 April 2026.

Once the agreement takes effect, students at GSAPS and UNU-IAS will be able to take courses offered by the partner institution.
This expanded academic access will provide students with opportunities to engage with highly specialized coursework, fostering deeper international and interdisciplinary perspectives and enriching their overall educational experience.
