International Scholar Services (ISS)

Information for Visiting Personnel

The Overseas Researcher Program provides the eligibility/status at Waseda University for a fixed period of time and necessary services for researchers engaging in educational/research activities at their home academic/research institutions outside Japan.

This program is designed for conducting research only. Enrolling in courses and earning course credits under this program is strictly prohibited. The applicant must have sufficient language ability to conduct his/her research and educational activities in either Japanese or English.

If you would like to apply, please review the “ISS Application Procedures” below and fill out the required information in the “ISS_Application_form” at least 4 months before the start date of your research. Follow the instructions in [Section 5] of the “ISS_Application_form” to upload the required documents.

Please note that the application process usually takes a minimum of 4 months (*1), so submit your application documents well in advance.
(*1) Please note that this is not the deadline to submit the required documents, but the date the university verifies that the submitted documents are complete. Not submitting the documents on time, or submitting incomplete documents, will delay the processing of your application. Please allow enough time to submit your documents in order to begin your research by the desired start date.
