The East Asian Community Forum was held on October 26, 2024
The Forum, now in its 12th year, is held jointly with Korea University and Tsinghua University, and this year Waseda University (GSAPS) served as host, with the theme “East Asian Community Building amidst US-China Competition”.
Starting with a keynote speech by Masahiro Kawai, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, three sessions were held on the themes of “Security Issues”, “Economic, Social and Political Trends” and “Historical Perspectives”.
In each session, the presenters from each university raised interesting issues, and participants in the audience actively asked questions and engaged in lively discussions.
The forum provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of cooperation and collaboration in creating a bright future for the East Asian Community, and it was also a very meaningful opportunity to further deepen exchanges among the three universities.
Next year’s forum will be hosted by Korea University.
