How to pay the tuition and the fees

There are three ways to make a payment. Please check the below information for more details.

①Automatic Debit Transfer

If the Automatic Debit Transfer account is registered on MyWaseda, the payment for the semester will be made on the designated deadline, Please note that depending on the timing of your registration, you may not be able to receive the next debit in time. If you wish to register a new tuition debit account, you will need to submit an application. Please refer to the Financial Affairs website for more details.

If you would like to stop the Automatic Debit Transfer, please apply from the link below by two months before the day of transfer.

②Payment Slip

If the Automatic Debit Transfer account is not registered on MyWaseda, the payment slip will be sent to your registered Japanese address on MyWaseda. You need to bring the payment slip to the designated banks and complete a payment with cash. Making a payment through ATM or online banking is not acceptable.

③Students having difficulties with making a payment by Automatic Debit Transfer or Payment Slip

Please make a payment with overseas remittance or credit card. If that is a case, please apply for “Web Invoice” system from the following link . ” Web Invoice” is the system that you can check your payment information and how to make a payment by overseas remittance or credit card on MyWaseda “Announcements”. Please note that it will take a while to be able to check the information on MyWaseda after you apply from the below link.

※If you use the payment slip, please note that payment cannot be made outside of bank business hours, so please be very careful if the last day of payment falls on a holiday or national holiday.

If you are unable to meet the final due date (Spring semester: September 20, Fall semester: March 31) as stated in “The deadlines of the payment”, you can extend the deadline by submitting the form from the designated link.

Scholarships

The Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies offers a comprehensive financial support, including campus Scholarships such as the Okuma Memorial Scholarship, the Ono Azusa Memorial Scholarship, Scholarship for Fostering Researchers in Doctoral Programs, and our own GSAPS Scholarships “GSAPS Excellence Awards“. In addition, there are various kinds of scholarships sponsored by organizations outside of the university such as the scholarships by the Japan Student Services Organization (awarded to Japanese students), scholarships by private foundations and the Tuition Reduction Scheme (covering 50%of the tuition; awarded to privately – financed international students). Listed below are scholarships granted to students at the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, in AY2018.
In principle application for scholarships is made after matriculation. However, application for some scholarships can be made prior to matriculation. (Please refer to the section ‘Scholarship Admissions‘.)
Graduate school recipients of ‘Category 1’ loans by the Japan Student Services Organization, whom JASSO recognizes as having achieved particularly outstanding results during their studies may be exempted from repaying half or the entire loan after the borrowing period expires. In AY 2018, about 30% of the recipients of ‘Category 1’award have been granted full or partial exemption.
* An international student with a [Permanent Resident], [Long Term Resident], [Spouse or Child of Japanese citizen] or [Spouse or Child Permanent Resident] status will be required to register for scholarship as a Japanese student.
