「早稲田祭2020」開催に向けてのお願い
来る11月7日、8日の「早稲田祭2020」のオンライン開催に向けて、参加団体の学生の皆さんは、最後の準備を行っていることと思います。課外活動においても大きな制限が課される中、上級生を中心にさまざまな工夫を凝らし活動を続けてきました。多くの参加団体が、その成果を「早稲田祭2020」において発表することでしょう。これまで感染予防に細心の注意を払いながら準備を進めてきたことを讃えるとともに、私たち教職員一同もこれまでの脈々と受け継がれてきた「早稲田祭」の伝統の上に、オンライン開催という革新性を付与した「早稲田祭2020」が成功することを心より祈っています。
ただし、注意すべき点もあります。本学では、新型コロナウィルス感染症の流行以来、学生の皆さんの自覚ある行動により感染者数は最小限に抑えられていたものの、10月下旬に小さいながらも初めてクラスターが発生しました。
「早稲田祭2020」の準備期間も含め、「早稲田祭2020」期間中および終了後に打ち上げや、コンパ、飲み会、会食をすれば、クラスターの発生する可能性がきわめて高くなります。引き続き感染予防に努めて「早稲田祭2020」を開催するとともに、打ち上げをはじめ高田馬場駅周辺で騒ぐような行為は絶対にしないでください。それらの行為は皆さんがこれまで苦労をして築き上げようとしている「早稲田祭2020」の成功を水泡に帰すことになります。もし、大規模なクラスターがいくつも発生してしまうと、秋学期になって、ようやく再開できた対面授業を中止し、全面的なオンライン授業に移行せざるを得なくなります。
早稲田大学の学生の辛抱強さと自己抑制には、教職員一同敬意を表しています。自らの健康はもちろん、他の学生、さらには学生の皆さんに有意義な学生生活を過ごしてほしいと願っているご家族のことも配慮して、「早稲田祭2020」の開催中およびその前後の期間は、これまで以上に自覚を持って行動することを望みます。

Request Regarding Wasedasai (Waseda Festival) 2020
Dear Students,
We believe that many of you from participating organizations are now making the final preparations for the online Wasedasai (Waseda Festival) 2020, which will be held November 7 and 8, 2020. While extracurricular activities have been subject to great restrictions, you have continued your activities by exercising your ingenuity, especially with senior students taking the lead. We’re sure that many participating organizations plan to present the results of your hard work at Wasedasai 2020. We would like to highly praise you for the fact that you have been preparing for this event while closely following protective measures. Wasedasai is a special tradition that has been passed down through cohorts of students, and the faculty and staff at Waseda University sincerely wish that Wasedasai 2020, which will be innovatively held online, will be a great success.
With that said, we would like to make a few reminders. Ever since the novel coronavirus pandemic has started, Waseda has kept the number of infected cases to a minimum, thanks to your responsible actions and awareness. However, in late October, despite its small size, the first case of a COVID-19 cluster has been reported.
The possibility of infection clusters to occur can be extremely high if you decide to hold any social gatherings, including drinking parties before (during preparations), during, and after Wasedasai 2020. Please continue to follow protective measures to safely host Wasedasai 2020 and do not take any actions such as having an afterparty or causing public nuisances in the Takadanobaba Station area. Such actions could cause the success of Wasedasai 2020, which you have all worked so hard for, to become wasted. If many large clusters of COVID-19 occur, in-person classes, which has restarted this fall semester, must be canceled, and we must return to having online classes only.
The entire faculty and staff respect the patience and self-control of the Waseda students. We hope that you will take responsible actions, with awareness more than ever, before, during, and after Wasedasai 2020 so that you can not only protect your own health and safety, but also of the other students as well as your families who wish for you to spend a meaningful student life.
