Scope of the Medical Fee Reimbursement System

Specific examples of medical fee reimbursement

[Example] If the self coverage amount was 3,000 yen, all of which was within the scope of medical insurance

  • Self coverage amount: 3,000 yen
  • Deduction 1 (1,000 yen self coverage per application form): -1,000 yen
  • Reimbursed amount: 2,000 yen

(ii) If part of the self coverage amount included treatment outside of the scope of medical insurance

[Example] If the self coverage amount was 5,000 yen, 1,000 yen of which was outside of the scope of medical insurance

  • Self coverage amount: 5,000 yen
  • Deduction 1 (For treatment outside of the scope of medical insurance): -1,000 yen
  • Deduction 2 (1,000 yen self coverage per application form): -1,000 yen
  • Reimbursed amount: 3,000 yen

(iii) If the applicant has already received medical fee reimbursement close to the annual reimbursement limit up to the last application and is applying for medical fee reimbursement again (within the same fiscal year) (if the total amount exceeds the annual reimbursement limit)

[Example] If the applicant has already received medical fee reimbursement of 57,000 yen during the fiscal year up to the last application and is applying for medical fee reimbursement again for 5,000 yen (within the same fiscal year)

  • Medical fee reimbursement amount received up to the last application: 57,000 yen
  • Self coverage amount this time: 5,000 yen
  • Deduction 1 (Annual reimbursement limit: 60,000 yen – 57,000 yen = Only 3,000 yen is the reimbursement target): -2,000 yen
  • Reimbursed amount: 3,000 yen

[Caution]

Note that 1,000 yen shall be deducted from each payment if you filed multiple applications for visits to the same medical institute within the same month.

[Example] If the applicant visited AAA Hospital three times on June 1, June 10, and June 20 during the month of June and the total self coverage amount was 10,000 yen, including 5,000 yen, 3,000 yen, and 2,000 yen respectively, all of which was for treatment within the scope of medical insurance

  • If the applicant filed one application for all of the visits
    – Self coverage amount of 5,000 yen + 3,000 yen + 2,000 yen = 10,000 yen
    – Deduction: -1,000 yen
    => Reimbursed amount: 9,000 yen
  • If the applicant filed three applications for the visits
    – Self coverage amount of 5,000 yen + 3,000 yen + 2,000 yen = 10,000 yen
    – Deduction (-1,000 yen x number of applications: 3): -3,000 yen
    – Reimbursed amount: 7,000 yen
