Institute for Contemporary French Studies (ICFS) focuses on the General Research on Originality and Universality of Social, Political and Cultural aspects of Contemporary France, gathering Japanese and Francophone specialists of these fields with a view of interdisciplinary alliances.

Research Summary
Our activities which have only just begun will be carried on about five main subjects as bellow:
- 1.International relations: Research into France’s diverse roles in the contemporary international community (including research into historical processes)
- Social Problems: Comprehensive Study of Contemporary French Society
- Political and Judicial Structures: Comprehensive Research on Contemporary French Politics and Justice
- Cultural Studies: Comprehensive research on contemporary French culture and art
- Francophone Countries and Regions: Comprehensive research on modern French-speaking regions (West Africa, the Caribbean, Quebec, etc.)
