Abstract

This study considers the formation of Islamic reformism from the perspective of transmigration of Muslims and their master-disciple relationships. In 17—18th centuries Arabian Peninsula, Islamic reformism is being generated by scholars came from all over the Islamized regions. Islamic reformists advocated to practice the teaching of the Qur’an (sacred book of Islam) and the Hadith (sayings and customs of the Prophet Muhammad) and this attitude are followed by some Islamic extremists today. The final goal of this study is to clarify the historical process of strict religious tendency in Islam. As the first step, a network of scholars are visualized and analyzed by Gephi, an open sourced software. How does a scholar become an Islamic reformist is an unsolved question.
