Core Strategies of Waseda

2. Reconstruction of the Education System to Nurture Global Leaders

Purpose and aim

In order to provide all students with opportunities to acquire a liberal arts education, which is the source of deep insight that supports the demonstration of specialized skills, we will systematize basic education programs and foreign language education programs at the Global Education Center, etc., and appropriately connect them with specialized education.
In addition, the university will promote cross-cultural exchange and sports promotion, and through international education programs, study abroad programs, volunteer activities, and other experiential courses, nurture students who are suitable to become global leaders, equipped with broad knowledge and thinking from multiple viewpoints.
The program will also enhance education for working adults who aim to become global leaders based on their social experiences, and increase opportunities for them to return to the university at any time to study.
Through the WISE PROGRAM, MEXT “PEP”, we will further promote graduate school reform by realizing a 5-year integrated doctoral program with 13 national, public, and private universities, innovative education that integrates the humanities and sciences, external training and joint research utilizing the facilities of partner institutions, and corporate partnerships including the acceptance of endowment funds.
