Waseda University takes a number of measures to protect your safety in case of emergency, but it is ultimately you who will protect yourself in case of disaster, fire, etc. Check the disaster prevention measures in the Student Center now!
Loudly yell “Fire!”
Use the fire alarm to inform others!
Call the Disaster Prevention Center! (TEL:03-3203-3479)
Immediately put out the fire if it’s small. If the fire is too big to extinguish, close the door to the room and run!
Check the evacuation routes, such as emergency exits, in advance.
You cannot use elevators! Evacuate to the front of Waseda Arena using the stairs. Watch out for smoke!
If you are evacuating through smoke, do so by holding your mouth/nose with a handkerchief, etc. and keeping your body low.
Watch out for objects falling from above and duck under a desk. Do not jump outside suddenly!
If you are in an elevator, press the buttons for all floors and exit on the floor where it stops.
If you are locked in, use the emergency button or intercom to contact someone.
Once the shaking has stopped, follow the P.A. and staff and in principle, wait in the building.
Be careful of fires! If you are a university staff member or student, cooperate with each other to rescue/aid others once you evacuate.
In addition, obtain correct information from TV, radio, internet, etc.!
