The “ICC Discussion Cafe” is a place where both undergraduates and graduates from all faculties and backgrounds have the opportunity to come together and discuss various issues in English.
This semester our collaboration cafe with Tokyo Medical and Dental University will be on the theme of “The Globalization of Japan”.
In recent years with the improvements in transportation and especially the ability to exchange information, people and things regularly travel all over the world. It is now possible thanks to the internet to obtain any kind of information from anywhere in the world in real time.
This “globalization” reduces physical and psychological distances among people, not only in specialist fields like politics, economics, science and medicine, but also in our own daily lives. How is it affecting us?
Now we have come to a key point in Japanese history, what will Japan’s relationship be with this new globalized world?
Japan is getting ready to welcome the world for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, and Japanese people are also preparing more to go out into the world by learning English and boosting English education nationwide. How are these two topics related?
In this event, you have a great chance to debate and talk with students from not only Waseda but also Tokyo Medical and Dental University. You don’t need to be an expert or be studying a particular course. Just be ready to give your opinion in English. So if you want to chat with people from a different university, please sign up and take part!
