Pau Pitarch, an associate professor of Waseda University’s Faculty of Letters, Arts and Sciences, makes a case for why Waseda is the perfect environment for those looking to study Japanese literature and culture.
Pitarch teaches modern Japanese literature at the University. In an interview set in Waseda’s newest literary facility, the Waseda International House of Literature (the Haruki Murakami Library), Pitarch explains the strength of the University’s libraries and archives, which host a wide variety of invaluable resources readily available for research.
Waseda is also a global network for scholars and researchers to come together and learn from each other, with emphasis on international exchange, and the University hosts hundreds of overseas researchers for both short-term and year-long stays.
…that makes our campus the ideal space to encounter and interact with the past, present, and future of Japanese literature
For those interested in studying Japanese literature and culture at Waseda, the University provides the following specialized programs:
- For undergraduate studies, the School of Culture, Media and Society offers the English-based Global Studies in Japanese Cultures Program (JCulP).
- For graduate studies, the Graduate School of Letters, Arts and Sciences offers Global Japanese Literary and Cultural Studies (Global-J).
