Volunteer Recruitment: “Arakawa River Cleanup: A Little Act of Green” (Furusato Seiso Undokai)—(November 28, 2026)

The “Furusato Seiso Undokai” (Hometown Cleanup Sports Festival) began in 2007, bringing together residents, student volunteers, and others for community cleanup activities.

“Arakawa River Cleanup: A Little Act of Green” has been held since 2010 and is one of the festival’s flagship activities, with more than 6,500 participants to date.

This year, WAVOC will be participating as a team for the first time!

Why not start by cleaning up a local riverbank while reflecting on environmental issues such as ocean plastic pollution? It’s a great chance to make a hands-on difference.

First-time volunteers are welcome—and international students curious about volunteering in Japan are especially encouraged to join!

We look forward to seeing you there.
