健康スポーツ科学拠点に、2022年度のJA (Joint Appointment) 教員として、英国・ラフバラ大学より、ディビット・ステンシル先生 (Professor David Stensel) が来日しました。
ステンシル先生には4月15日から4月27日までの間、集中講義「Exercise Metabolism（全15回）」を担当いただきます。まだ来日できていない留学生もいるため、授業は対面とオンライン（リアルタイム）のハイブリッド形式で行われます。
コロナの影響を受けて、2020年度、2021年度は対面による教員の受け入れができませんでしたが、この度、渡航条件が緩和されたことを受け、2年ぶりに海外の大学から先生をお迎えすることができました。
代謝・栄養や医学関連分野において、顕著な研究業績をあげているステンシル先生から世界最先端の研究結果に基づく学びを直接享受することは、学生にとって大変有意義な機会となります。
授業に先立って所沢キャンパスを訪問し、スポーツ科学研究科長 岡 浩一朗先生と面談を行いました。

This course will comprise a blend of lectures and tutorials. The lectures will address topical issues in the field of sport and exercise science supplemented by a recently published textbook edited by Professor Stensel. The tutorials will assist MSc and PhD students with their study design/research protocols and any other research related issues they require advice on. The course will also include a tutorial on publishing work in academic journals based on Professor Stensel’s experience as an Associate Editor and Editor in Chief for the International Journal of Obesity.
また、ステンシル先生は10月にも来日し、本学においてラフバラ大学との共同シンポジウムの開催を計画しています。
