Waseda University is committed to developing global citizens by ensuring all students have the opportunity to participate in study abroad programs. Through a robust network of 848 partner universities and institutions across ninety-one countries and regions, the University aims to provide every undergraduate student without prior overseas experience with at least one study abroad opportunity.
Students face significant financial challenges as study abroad expenses rise due to fluctuating exchange rates and inflation. For instance, a year of study in the United States requires an estimated two to three million yen, excluding tuition. These costs present substantial barriers, underscoring the urgent need for financial support.
Currently, sixty percent of the University’s scholarships are funded through the national study abroad support system or external foundations. Insufficient scholarship availability risks creating disparities among students.
Therefore, establishing a new scholarship is essential to ensure that all students can access study abroad opportunities, regardless of economic background. We are confident that this initiative will cultivate future leaders capable of succeeding globally. We request your invaluable support, which will have a meaningful and lasting impact.
A minimum of 10 million yen is required to establish a scholarship. Donor contributions will be acknowledged on the CIE website, along with the achievements of students who benefit from these grants.
