You can study at one of more than 400 partner universities. For details of the latest information on the programs currently accepting students, see the Partner University List on the website of the Center for International Education.

Waseda University’s study abroad programs are largely classified into four categories: exchange programs, CS-L programs, CS-R programs, and double degree programs. For details on each type of program, see the Study Abroad Program List.

A part from programs offered by Waseda University, there are the category of study abroad at your own expense. Students who fall in this category are admitted to an overseas university and they pay the tuition fees and other academic fees and living expenses on their own.

Yes. As JCulP offers coursework in English, many students may choose to study at universities in English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, in addition to the U.S. and the U.K. If you are sufficiently proficient in a foreign language other than English, you can also study at a partner university in Europe, Asia, and other regions.

See the website of the Center for International Education.

If you study abroad at your own expense, your tuition and fees for Waseda University during the study-abroad period is 51,500 yen per semester. (You will be responsible for your tuition at the overseas university, as well as living and travel expenses).

Yes. However, you will be responsible for all the costs of studying abroad, as well as for completing all necessary procedures. You will be able to receive only limited support from Waseda University. In addition, your status at Waseda University during the study abroad period will be handled in a different manner from those who participate in study abroad programs offered through the university. You may not be able to graduate from Waseda University within four years, and the cost related to credit transfer may also differ from transferring credits from a partner university.

In general, students live in housing provided by the host university. Many universities have student dormitories. You may also participate in a homestay program offered by the university, or rent a nearby apartment. Available types of accommodation depend on the host institution.

Academic year cycles differ from country to country. In most countries, the academic year begins in late August or in September. For this reason, it would make sense for most JCulP students to begin their study abroad period after completing the Spring semester  in the program. However, you may also study abroad during the Spring semester, as some study abroad programs begin in April.

In principle, we approve credits earned through a study abroad program offered by Waseda University by converting them into the number of credits granted by Waseda University in accordance with certain criteria. (We do not simply approve the number of credits earned overseas as is).

For more details, see the relevant page on the website of the School of Culture, Media and Society (For Current Students > Study Abroad > Approval for Credits Earned while Studying Abroad [in Japanese]).
