概要
長崎版画は江戸時代中期から明治時代初期まで長崎で刊行された版画。長崎版画のほかに長崎絵、長崎古版画などの呼称がある。当時唐人と呼ばれた中国人、オランダ人などの外国人や、唐船、阿蘭陀船といった外国船を描いたものと長崎の地図がある。江戸時代数少ない国際交易港として栄えた長崎で土産として買い求められた。長崎版画をまとまって所蔵するのは、神戸市立博物館、長崎県立歴史博物館などで、東日本では当館のみである。
Nagasaki hanga are woodblock prints published from the mid Edo period to the early Meiji period. They are also known as Nagasaki-e (Nagasaki prints) and Nagasaki kohanga (old Nagasaki woodblock prints). They depict foreigners, such as the Chinese (known at the time as the Tang dynasty people) and the Dutch, and their ships, and maps of Nagasaki. These prints were purchased as souvenirs of Nagasaki, which prospered during the Edo period as one of the few international trading ports. Museums that possess a large number of Nagasaki hanga include the Kobe City Museum and the Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture. Aizu Museum is the only museum in eastern Japan to house a large collection of these prints.
