FAQ

For All students

Japanese course registration schedule depends on the school(center) you are enrolled. Please confirm the”Handbook” or “Course registration Guidebook” distributed from your school(center) or ask at your school(center) office. You may add or drop the course during 2nd and 3rd Course registration period.

Please refer to the CJL webpage or ask the staff at the school(center) you are enrolled.

You can find the syllabuses on Waseda Syllabus Search. Printed syllabus booklet is also available at the your school/center office and CJL office (4th floor of Bld. 22).

You will be informed which class you will be in exactly when you receive the course registration result. Until then, you may go to any one of classes.

【Classrooms of your registered Japanese Language courses】
Students can confirm classrooms of their registered course in the registration result email that send by system.
Classroom can also be checked through your registration web system site, when the registration result is announced.

 

【Classrooms of all Japanese Language courses】
From the day before the term of classes, classrooms of all Japanese Languages courses can be checked in the following ways.
・The elevator hall on the 1st floor of bldg.22
・In front of CJL office on the 4th floor of bldg.22

Web syllabus (Only Theme Courses’ classrooms are shown on web syllabus. )

Also,classroom list will be placed and distributed at the elevator hall on the 1st floor of bldg.22, CJL office on the 4th floor of bldg.22.

For CJL students

As a CJL students, to complete JLP course, is required to earn the prescribed number of credits(26 credits for one year and 13 credits for half year).  You can register for Japanese course up to 14 credits for each semester.

The credits of the courses of other schools/centers are not included in count of required credits for completion of JLP program. However, only 「日本語教育科目」at Global Education Center are counted as the credits for the completion.

For Undergraduate school student

It depends on the school you are enrolled. Please check the catalog which provided by your school. Also, number of course you may register each semester is different by the school. For further information, please ask staff at your school.

Yes, you can register Japanese courses. But you may take up to 8 credits of Japanese language courses per semester. (From 2020 the maximum of credits that can be registered during your enrollment will be limited to 32 credits. Please take consideration when you make a study plan.)

For Graduate school student

You may take up to 8 credits of Japanese language courses per semester. (From 2020 the maximum of credits that can be registered during your enrollment will be limited to 32 credits. Please take consideration when you make a study plan.) In addition, your school may have maximum credits for Japanese courses, so please confirm your school office. The number of courses you may register each semester is different by the school. For further information, please ask staff at your school. Before you register, please check your class schedule for your graduate school and Japanese class schedule. If you decide to drop the course which you have registered, please Drop it in the 2nd and 3rd Course Registration period. If you forget to DROP it, you are asked to pay Japanese course fees of courses you have registered.

Students who are supposed to pay the tuition fee will receive the mail about the payment. Read the mail and come to the CJL office (4th floor in Building No.22) to receive payment sheet and pay the tuition fee at nearby Bank.

A non-degree seeking student whose resident status is “College Student” or “Student” is required to study 10 hours or more in each semester. Usually, those students take Japanese courses besides courses offered by the graduate schools.

You must pay Japanese course fees first, and then bring the receipt of payment issued by the bank to CJL office (4th floor of Building No.22). CJL office can issue “Certificate of Japanese Course Registration” for you.

For Faculty/Researchers visiting Waseda from overseas institutions

To register for Japanese course, please do the appointed procedure during the appointed period.

For details, please refer to “2.Course Registration” of “Japanese Language Course Registration & Syllabus”.

 

The registration schedule and procedure for graduate students are different from Faculties and Researchers(include research associate). Tuition fee is also different depending on your status. Please check “2.Course Registration” and also “3.Tuition Fee for Japanese Language Courses”of “Japanese Language Course Registration & Syllabus” for details and then decide whether you would like to register as a graduate student or others.
