FAQ for Course Registration

General Questions on Course Registration

First of all, please read “1. Course Registration Flow” in the registration guidebook to understand the course registration overview.
If you are an undergraduate or graduate student, be sure to check the registration guidebook distributed by your school.

You can register for and drop Japanese language courses only during the designated course registration period. (Registration and cancellation outside of the course registration period will NOT be accepted for any reason.)
You can DROP course(s) during 2nd and 3rd registration period. Please check the course registration schedule.

For undergraduate/ graduate students, the registration schedule may differ depending on  the school in which you are enrolled. Please check the schedule at your school.

First, please check the number of credits you need and consider how many Japanese courses you should register for.
The number of credits per course varies from 1 to 5, depending on the course; check the Web syllabus for the course.
<CJL students>
In order to complete the Japanese Language Program, students must earn the following credits.
Acquired 13 credits or more / Half year program
Acquired 26 credits or more / One year program
<Undergraduate/ Graduate Students>
Check the website and guidebook of your undergraduate/ graduate school.

Syllabus for Japanese language courses can be found at [Syllabus Search].
In the [List of Japanese Language Courses], classes can be extracted by class modality, time&period, level, and so on. Please make use of this function as well.

There is a limit to the number of credits that can be registered per semester and that can be acquired during your enrollment.
If the number of credits you apply for exceeds this maximum limit, some of the courses are randomly chosen to be cancelled so that the number of registered credits will not exceed the limit.
Please note that in this case, a course that you consider to be high priority may be selected as an error. Try to resolve the error before you register for courses.

You CANNOT register for the courses for which you have already earned the credits. However, you can retake courses that you failed (Grade F/G) and did not earned credit for. The same applies if your student ID number changes.

Once the enrollment has reached the class capacity, the course will be “Closed” and it will not be available during the next registration period.
If someone drop the course during the 2nd period, there is a possibility that you will be able to register for the course during the 3rd period, but it is not guaranteed. In the 3rd registration, more courses will be “Closed” and the available seats will be reduced. To avoid being “Over Enrolled,” please be sure to check the “Available Seats List” on the CJL website and register for courses with many available seats.

Please be sure to check the “Available Seats List“, select courses from the list, and add courses during the 2nd and 3rd registration period.
Please note that you will not be able to add courses after the 3rd registration period for any reason.

You CANNOT register for multiple courses taking place on the same day and period. This rule applies to On-demand courses supplied with fixed schedules as well.
For undergraduate/ graduate students, the courses offered by your school must be given priority over the Japanese language courses.

No, it is not. If the number of applicants exceeds the class capacity, the course will be subject to a “Lottery“, and the computer system will randomly select the students to be registered. If you were not selected to be registered for a class, “Over Enrolled” will be displayed on the Web course registration screen. So, please confirm your registration result.

You have three chances to register for Japanese language courses, from the 1st to 3rd course registration. If all the courses you applied for result in “Registered” in the 1st registration and fulfill your required number of credits, you do not need to register in the 2nd and 3rd registration.
Please note that you will not be able to add and drop any courses after the 3rd registration period.

You must pay Japanese course fees first, and then bring the receipt of payment issued by the bank to CJL office (4th floor of Building No.22). CJL office can issue “Certificate of Japanese Course Registration” for you.

Course Drop

After attending the first class, if you find that your “Registered” course does not meet your level or learning objectives, you may drop the course during the course registration period.
However, once the course is dropped, it cannot be reverted to its original status. So please consider carefully whether to drop the course.

You can drop Japanese language courses during the 2nd and 3rd registration period. Please note that you will not be able to drop any courses after the 3rd registration period.
