According to the common policy principle of realizing a fair and comfortable society, the Major in Policy Sciences will approach various problems of modern society from the viewpoint of three cross sections: “Government and Society”, “Civil Life and Society”, and “Enterprises and Society” to theoretically and practically study the specific policy formations demanded at each level, as well as ways to solve problems.
We are being asked to reform various relationships between such entities as governments, civil societies and enterprises due to the increasing complexity and globalization of the world. Consequently, all the areas in politics, economics and society are facing changes and each is looking for ways to govern the new policy formation. From a new viewpoint, this Major will integrate the relationships between those entities that cannot be maintained in the conventional framework, and conduct theoretical and practical research into policy formulation.
Today, higher levels of knowledge and techniques in practical professional fields are required due to technical innovations and internationalization. The Major in Policy Sciences aims at educating professionals who are not only specialists in specific fields, but also have highly practical abilities, backed up by universal theories, and an awareness of problems.
In this research field, students aim to resolve global issues from the standpoint of creating harmony between human economics, social activities and nature, and the environment. We will also train students to become experts who will promote theoretical, practical, and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable development.
In this field, students will conduct research on ideal policy formation for public domain and industrial organizations in contemporary society, as well as policy as a whole and concrete policy tools. While having a firm grasp on the progression of globalization and the resulting changes in the economic, industrial, and social structure, students will also learn how to build and develop policy.
